Cada año, manadas de delfines y ballenas de distintas especies llegan hasta las costas del norte de Chile atraídas por la gran cantidad de alimento que arrastra la corriente de Humboldt desde el extremo sur del continente.

Entre diciembre y abril, los cetáceos surcan las costas del Parque Nacional Pan de Azúcar, espectáculo que en ocasiones es posible avistar desde las playas, zonas altas o en tours que circundan la Isla Pan de Azúcar para admirar una gran colonia de pingüinos de Humboldt, lobos marinos, aves protegidas y en serio peligro de extinción, como el pato junco.
Between December and April, the cetaceans furrow the coasts of the Pan de Azúcar National Park, a show that is sometimes possible to see from the beaches, high areas or on tours that surround the Pan de Azúcar Island to admire a large colony of Humboldt penguins, sea lions, protected birds and seriously endangered, such as the duck reed.
